xx iPod touch 3G being manufactured in Asia, shipping in September | 23 Jul 09

Ever since the bust on a bulk purchase of $10 cameras each, the rumor mill has been rolling concerning the iPod touch 3G.  More recently, however, Apple's China-based production firms have confirmed that the iPod touch 3G's production is underway, and that it has a camera and a microphone.  More from Wired:

Quote from: Wired
Rumors have swirled about Apple readying a new version of the iPod Touch with a camera and microphone, which, combined with a Skype account, would pretty much obviate the need for a home phone line once and for all.

A well-connected source tells us those rumors are on the money, and that Apple’s factories in China are already manufacturing iPod Touch models with integrated cameras and microphones. An Apple spokesman declined to comment when reached by phone.

If iPod Touches with cameras and microphones go on sale “in two to three months,” as our source expects them to (and which corresponds with our expected timeframe), they will transform the entertainment-oriented iPod Touch line into a voice communications tool wherever WiFi is available.

In addition to these voice-over-IP capabilities, which should have telephone providers quaking in their boots, the microphone (and camera) would enable the iPod Touch to understand voice commands, capture video and images, and work with a wider variety of programs in the App Store.

(Plus, as some Wired commenters have suggested, one could combine a microphone-equipped iPod Touch with the Verizon MiFi personal hotspot creator to enable — at long last — the iPhone experience on Verizon’s network.)

Source: http://www.ipodtouchfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=219841

All of this being said, it looks like an iPod touch 3G with a camera will be coming out, but what about prices?  Hardware upgrades?  None of this has been talked about, but it's definitely worth bringing up.

Around the time of the rumor of a bulk purchase of cameras from a Taiwan-based hardware company, cases from various websites popped up for the iPod touch 3G.  Now with the confirmation of a microphone we can say only one thing: video capture.  Many people have jumped to talking about VoIP (which is already possible with the 2G through the microphone headset), but let's slow down.  Many of the case designs released show two slots, or two apparent areas, where a camera or microphone could be (an example here).
My take: the microphone will sit aside the camera.  In a logical competition against devices such as the Flip, Apple can create a market of media devices that not only store media, but also capture media as well.  It will be interesting to see how the market shifts and what type of advertising campaign Apple throws out there.

So, video capture, huh?  We've seen it on the iPhone 3GS (for those of you who've seen the video of a guy strapping his 3GS to the bottom of an RC plane, you'll know how amazing the quality is), but how will it turn out on the iPod touch?
My take: Apple doesn't differ hardware very much between devices, so the iPod touch will probably have similar, if not the same hardware as the iPhone 3GS.  This'll make 30FPS VGA video capture possible on the device.  Similarly, all the advantages in gaming, especially in game emulation that you see on the 3GS will be on the iPod touch 3G.  That means Apple can push a media capture campaign and/or continue to say that the touch is the "funnest iPod ever", a statement I'd have to agree with.

Now, nothing has been mentioned by Apple concerning the device.  That includes the price of the device.  On top of that, what will the different storage sizes be?  It's the storage space that differs the size, but we all know that.
My take: Apple keeps a nice line between the iPhone and the iPod touch, and let's face it: do you see "phone" anywhere in the name of the device?  No.  It's not meant to be a phone, it's meant to be an iPod, and Apple has constantly defined that by "media device", be it for capturing or storing said media.  Apple sells their iPods for more than their iPhones, because it's all about the cell phone plan with the phone.  So what might we expect for the new iPod touch?  In my opinion, definitely not a price cut, but maybe the same prices, and if anything a raise.  In comparison now, the 16GB iPod touch is $100 more than the 16GB iPhone, so for the 3rd generation model I'm thinking that the 8GB model will be thrown out, with the 16GB model priced at $300 still, and the 32GB still at $400, but we may even see a 64GB model, and for that...well, I really don't know.  $500 seems pricey for 64GB, let alone a mobile device, but then again...

So the iPod touch 3G is being manufactured and will be shipped in September.  Looking at the cases it'll probably have a microphone next to the camera lens, so no VoIP for Skype or other similar services.  Also, if Apple wants to do video capture with the microphone (what other use is there if it's next to the camera lens), it'll need the same hardware as the 3GS, making the device much faster and be able to play games better too.  As for prices, Apple certainly won't cut it with the new camera, and might also raise it.  It's hard to tell, but one likely thing will be that the 8GB model will no longer be around, and we might even have a 64GB one.

I've got a 1st gen iPod touch, and it's handled well ever since I got it a week or two after release, but I need to upgrade.  The camera alone made me want it, but with a microphone it'll be even better and worth the purchase.  I've always wanted a speaker in my iPod too.  Until then, I've still got my trusty 1G, but I wonder what will happen with that HAL 9000 case...

Hi, The Spy (42) here. I recently talked to Kevin about doing a weekly segment on horrible things on the Internet. It is called “From the corners of the Interewbs” and this is the first one. Congrats on being the first ones the read this. Anyways, here we go.

This week, I stumbled upon something truly horrific. It’s called “vampire rave” and no, it’s not just another “Twilight” fan site. This web site is actually filled with people who think they are actual vampires. Yes, I told you it was horrible. They actually think that they need to drink blood to survive, and they do it. You herd (read) me right. THEY DRINK BLOOD, REAL BLOOD.

Just so you can see how crazy these people are, I have some pictures:

“See mommy, I told you I was a real vampire; the fact that I am a member of this forum proves it!”

“Subject: Paris Hilton was abducted by zombies while speaking demonic languages in her sleep!”

“Oh! So that’s why my husband left me! Wait… shit.”

“Wait… What are you selling?”

Yep, that pretty much raps this week’s up. Here’s a link if you wanna suck some blood. www.vampirerave.com

In the midst of all the action, but without a pass to get in, WWDC is happening here at Moscone, and when the keynote has been presented and the information comes out I'll have all the news for you.  Much like TacoBox, I'll have a podcast out for you to hear what's new at Apple.  This year WWDC focuses around iPhone OS 3.0, most likely a new iPhone, maybe a new iPod touch, and the latest addition to the OS X lineup: Snow Leopard.

What's there to say so far?  I've walked by Moscone West a bit, and the wall is covered in iPhone apps.  One time I also looked through the glass windows to see a long billboard that said "Mac OS X Snow Leopard: The world's most advanced operating system".  Later it was out of sight.

The podcast will be up and ready to listen to soon after the Keynote is presented and information has surfaced.  Get ready, cause WWDC is right around the corner, literally Smiley

Here's the download link: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?wowmnnn1n45

Pretty bland, which is why I ask, I need to lowdown on Audacity.  Anyone who can help me out (Dom, you said you knew it damn well), give me the lowdown on the basics.

xx [PSP] Rock Band Unplugged | 05 Jun 09
kevipapo1
 21:53:57 by kevipapo1

Introduction:

What exactly is Rock Band Unplugged?  It's Harmonix's attempt to bring the Rock Band series to the PSP.  Here's the quick breakdown: take Rock Band 2 (with the songs, DLC, instruments), lower the graphics to PSP level while still giving the same experience, revamp the gameplay (4 frets, playing for the entire band), and you've got Rock Band Unplugged.  It's an entertaining game, but you obviously don't get the guitar, drums, or microphone you'd normally get with the other games.  In short, it's Rock Band 2 for the PSP.

Graphics:

Rock Band Unplugged brings nothing new to the PSP in terms of graphics.  However, the series needs graphics compelling enough to keep the experience expected in each game.  The PSP is no worse at this, and certainly delivers.  You can see the lower than low polygon count, the less than average textures, but with the visual effects, animation, and camera angles, the game retains that rock star feeling.  There's not much more to be said.

Gameplay:

The gameplay in Rock Band Unplugged has been completely overhauled into something that from the first look may seem too complicated to play.  It's complicated to explain, but I'll try my best.  You play all four instruments at the same time.  Switching between instruments, you keep each one going.  The instruments have sections that come up every chance they get, and if you complete these sections the instrument will begin playing on it's own until it calls you back into action.  The system takes some time getting used to, but once you know it that Rock Band experience builds itself up even more.  You feel in complete control and amazing with the entire band in your hands.  You'll feel like a badass.

To the contrary from the other games, you don't have an instrument in your hands.  The game is definitely a lot of button mashing, and you don't get the same feel in that sense, but the game copes fairly well.  Depending on what instrument you're playing the volume is amplified, and some parts that may have been more challenging are now much easier by smashing your fingers on buttons.  Other elements are obviously missing, such as hammer on's and pull off's.  This isn't the same experience you get with the console version, but the feeling isn't far off either.

Story:

If you've played Rock Band 2, the story will be nothing new to you.  This is the main reason why Unplugged is simply a portable version of RB2.  It is no different, albeit a somewhat changed setlist, thus causing different venues.  Nonetheless, the experience doesn't get old, especially with the different songs.  You're a band, making your way up in the world, hiring people to help you get there, getting new transport methods (like a van), and overall becoming an amazing band.  You'll collect stars along the way with each venue you play.  It's a story that never seems to get old.  I have noticed, however, that the story in Rock Band Unplugged seems to go by faster than that of the one in Rock Band 2.  Even so, the game goes a long way, and will most definitely keep you playing for a while.  Other elements are kept around: character customization, the rock shop, etc.

Conclusion:

Rock Band Unplugged is a portable version of Rock Band 2.  The only addition is the new gameplay, which is different, yet entertaining, and complicated, but once understood, you'll love it!
If you're a fan of the Rock Band series, Rock Band Unplugged is a must have, especially if you loved and still love Rock Band 2.  It's RB2 in your pocket.

Welcome to the first rendition of TacoBox, an all Xbox update from yours truly!

Well, E3 is around the corner, and theres alot to be looked forward to:

-Word on the street is, that Microsoft is going to reveal the latest console in the Xbox line of consoles. This could mean a numerous amount of things, but according to the June 2009 issue of Game Informer, "Microsoft epexts this console lifecycle to last longer than the traditional five-year span and the company believes regular updates to the 360 will push the life past that of the original xbox and past the five year mark". Combining that with the latest Xbox 360 price drop, making it the cheapest of the current-generation consoles, Game Informers claims that due to the rise in Xbox Live members since the drop, combined with the almost unlimited possibilities that the console has, its highly unlikley that Microsoft will cash in now. Theres no offical word or rumors about a new console or anything, but Major Nelson, the forerunner in Microsoft's Xbox news breaker, during a weekly webcast, has talked about brand new things to come at E3. Last year, Microsoft's big announcement was that Final Fantasy XIII (13) would be released on a Microsoft console (A huge turn of events-Final Fantasy was one of the last big name Sony exclusives, and with the rumors that Metal Gear Solid 4 may jump to Xbox 360.......Sony's running thin), so Microsoft will need to top themselves, as they usually do. What's Taco's money on? Nintendo has the DS/Game Boy, Sony has the PSP. I think Microsoft's been working on a handheld console themselves, and is going to reveal this year. Place your bets now.

-Speaking of huge reveals at E3, Epic Games is expecting to show off there brand new Unreal 3 engine. Although at first it may not be a big reveal, this will be big for upcoming Epic game titles such as Gears of War 3, and possibly a new Unreal Tournament. Thanks to Team Xbox for that tidbit.

-Speaking of the devil, Epic released some news about Gears 2 that may either excite or anger Gears of War junkies such as myself. According to Xbox360achivements.org, the newest campaign update, Dark Corners, which will expand on the Gears of War 2 story and add new gameplay modes and seven (count em Cheesy) new multiplayer maps, will no longer be getting a retail version. The original release Gears of War 2:All Fronts was to be priced at forty dollars U.S, and included both the Combustible and Snowblind map packs, which were orignally priced at 10 dollars a piece, and the newest campaign expansion, Dark Corners. Many people largely complained over the hefty price for the campaign downloads. After the cancel of such, Dark Corners, which will still be released over the Xbox Live marketplace, will now be released at a price of 1200 Microsoft Points, which is roughly equal to $15 American. Its quite nice for me, personally, due to the fact that I already payed the $10 for the Snowblind map pack, and didnt want to spend the extra 10 dollars again, and I planned to purchase Dark Corners anyway, so for me, that extra 5 dollars off will go to the Combustible map pack spending.

In a Weekly Segment, i'd like to announce this weeks Downloaded Content For Rock Band II

For the week of June 2ed, Rock Band II's DLC includes:

Aces High (live)
2 Minutes to Midnight
The Trooper
Wasted Years
The Number of the Beast
Run to the Hills
Can I Play With Madness
The Clairvoyant
Powerslave
Fear of the Dark (live)
Hallowed Be Thy Name (live)
Iron Maiden (live)

(thanks to GameSpy for these)

On a personal note, i'm kinda bumed. yes, seeing some AWESOME Maiden on here like 2 Minutes to Midnight, The Trooper, and Powerslave. But where the hell is Flight of Icarus? I love that song. Also, to point out that there charging to Run to the Hills. But honestally, its the studio version and not a cover, which is nice. I DID pay for two copies of "Limelight" by Rush, so no complaints. its nice to see the REAL "Number of the Beast". I own the DLC cover and deleted it. Its the worse cover i've ever heard. The scream after the solo is terrible.

Well, thats it for the TacoBox of May 29th, 2009. Comment and Suggestions are always welcomed, and thanks for reading!

xx Asus Builds Dual GTX 285 Card | 29 May 09

Every company wants to create the fastest version of each graphics card. You have the EVGA Super Super Clocked, the XFX Black Edition, the Palit Turbo, the BFG OC2, it goes on and on.

It's basically an overclocking race. Who can produce the card that runs at the highest frequency without setting itself on fire?

Asus decided to take matters into their own hands. They have grabbed two GTX 285 and fuzed them onto the same graphics card. I guess I shouldn't really say "fuzed", the Asus Mars 295 Limited Edition actually a dual PCB unit.

What you get is a card that looks a lot like a GTX 295 but is a lot faster. And it's a good thing you are reading this, because you might not have ever known. The card is branded as a GTX 295 (the Mars limited edition). There is no fancy name, they didn't call it the GTX 285X2 or the GTX 299 or anything like that. It even has the same device id and uses the standard Nvidia drivers.

asus GTX 295 mars
It looks as if the fastest card in the world will only be available from Asus (for the time at least). I can't wait to see two of these monsters benchmarked in SLI (if the card even works in SLI).

If you want more info including the specs, head to TechPowerUp (also, thanks to them for the pics)

xx iPhone OS 3.0 Announced! | 17 Mar 09
nedthehead
 17:48:05 by nedthehead

Apple today hosted a preview event for its upcoming iPhone OS 3.0, highlighting a few of over 1,000 new APIs for developers and over 100 new features for users. Here are some of the highlights:

- In-App Purchasing: Allows developers to sell additional content from within applications. Highlighted uses include magazine subscriptions, eBooks, additional levels and items for games.
- Peer-to-Peer Connectivity: Find other devices running the app via Bonjour over Wi-Fi of Bluetooth. Good for gaming, but also other applications for sharing data.
- Third-Party Accessory Apps: Allowing accessory manufacturers to create applications to interface with their hardware accessories.
- Push Notification: Rather than using background processes that hamper battery life, utilize third-party server to push badge, text, and audio alerts from applications.
- Turn by Turn: Apple will allow developers to use CoreLocation for turn-by-turn GPS directions.
- Cut, Copy and Paste: Available across all apps. Shake to undo or redo.
- Landscape keyboard: Available in all key applications, including Mail.
- MMS: Picture messaging now available.
- Voice Memos: Record notes, lectures, interviews, etc.
- Spotlight Search: Available across all applications. Systemwide search available from main home screen by flicking to the left.
- A2DP Bluetooth: Support for stereo bluetooth headsets.

Tethering, another much-requested feature, was addressed in the Q&A section of the event. Apple is building the client side of tethering into OS 3.0, but cooperation from carriers is also required in order for it to be offered.

The new iPhone OS 3.0 is available to all registered iPhone developers today as a free beta. Full release to customers will be this summer. OS 3.0 will be free for all iPhone users and a $9.95 upgrade for all iPod touch users. Most features will be available for the first-generation iPhone, although hardware limitations will prevent some features, such as MMS and stereo Bluetooth, from being added to those devices. Meanwhile, Apple also revealed that Bluetooth support can be activated in the 2nd generation iPod Touches.

UPDATE (kevipapo1)
Here we go: http://blog.iphone-dev.org/

"It almost goes without saying, but we will say it anyway

With all of the great stuff lined up for us with the 3.0 OS that Apple described today, many 3G owners may find themselves with itchy update fingers. If you find yourself with access to the 3G IPSW for 3.0 via the iPhone Dev Center program, and you are using yellowsn0w, do not update or restore to that official IPSW. You will lose yellowsn0w and find yourself unable to revert the baseband to get it back.

And for those wondering, yes the 3.0 OS is jailbreakable on all devices. It’s just those using 3G yellowsn0w that have to show some restraint and wait for PwnageTool to create a custom IPSW that avoids the baseband update."

So, firmware 3.0 is fully jailbreakable, just yellowsn0w has some issues with it, so don't update to 3.0 if you want the ability to have any carrier in your iPhone (for now).

http://blog.iphone-dev.org/post/67797811/dont-eat-yellowsn0w

The new 3G unlock came out!! yellowsn0w is an easy soft unlock. Just install it from Cydia, put in your new SIM, and restart your iPhone. Wait 15 seconds at the "Slide to Unlock" screen, and you're set! It's that easy. Finally, an unlock that won't involve opening the iPhone! It's still in beta, but I will get it, since I'm going to Ukraine over the summer. Or I'll get it sometime soon, and steal Kev's SIM to try out. Just remember, don't eat the yellowsn0w!

EDIT: Major news. I unlocked my iPhone today. I downloaded yellowsn0w (6.6kb), reset network settings (which restarts the iPhone), and swapped out the SIM with a T-Mobile SIM. It recognized, calls are being received, and kev's voicemail (thats whose SIM I stole) was still active. I slipped mine in, and back to AT&T, and calling works. So all is good.

EDIT2: The iPhone kept going into Airplane mode by itself at random times (like twice a day for 2 seconds), so I decided to uninstall yellowsn0w. For now, it might be a bit glitchy, but we know it works with only minor problems. I dont mind them, but I dont need it unlocked right now so I will wait until I need it.

The image hosted on the mysterious "redsn0w" webpage was updated to add what looked to many observers like some sort of hash or key (zoomed in above), and confirmation has come from Dev-Team member MuscleNerd posting on our forums:

The hex # in upper lefthand corner of http://outgoing.ipodtouchfans.com/?d=aHR0cDovL3JlZHNuMHcuY29t"]http://redsn0w.com[/URL] is an escrow hash.  That particular hash is a very good one for iPod Touch 2G.

Probably a few days at most.

If that's not enough confirmation, the Dev-Team's blog has been updated with a post that points even more strongly towards imminent news about the 2G touch. Describing their latest exploit, they say "...it certainly isn’t iPhone 3G related (right now). There is one other device... It fits in your pocket.."

If there is one thing that is certain, it is that the next few days are going to be an exciting time for the iPod touch community.

A no frills tethered jailbreak for iPod Touch 2G

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
--> YOU WILL VERY LIKELY VOID YOUR WARRANTY BY USING THIS <--

This is to be used only at your own risk.

We do not accept any responsibility for any damage that this tool may help
you cause to any of your equipment.

--> USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!! <--
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

WE WILL BE PROVIDING ABSOLUTELY NO SUPPORT FOR THIS!!!!!
If you post comments on our blog looking for support, we reserve the
right to ban your user ID from the blog.  You really shouldn't be doing
this unless you understand it all enough to not need support!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

THIS IS A *****  TETHERED ***** JAILBREAK
IF YOU DON'T KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THAT MEANS, DON'T USE THIS!

There are many ways to do this.  Here's one way that will probably
work for you.  If it doesn't, please don't come to use for support.
We're working on an untethered version.

This is for Mac only.  But you should be able to find (or work out
on your own) how to do it on Windows or Linux too.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
rslite
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is an interface to the DFU and Recovery modes of the device.  It
requires you to have libusb installed on your Mac.

Due to buggy interaction between libusb and the Apple device, any output
that is long gets all chewed up.  But if you stick to just the "!" and
the "#" commands, you won't notice.  We don't normally use this tool
but it's a lot easier to distribute and compile than the GUI we use.

The "!" (exclamation point, no quotes when you use it) sends a file.
The "#" (pound sign, no quotes when you use it) sends a script.
In both cases, you name the file right after the symbol.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Basic instructions
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: these are the bare bones instructions.   Please don't come to us
looking for more detailed instructions.

Preparation
1) Copy the FirmwareBundles and CustomPackages directories into
   your PwnageTool.app/Contents/Resources directory
2) Create a custom 2.2.1 ipsw with PwnageTool in Advanced mode.  Don't
   enable custom boot logos.
3) From your custom 2.2.1 ipsw, extract these (patched) files:
   iBSS.n72ap.RELEASE.dfu    (name it iBSS221pwn.dfu)
   iBoot.n72ap.RELEASE.img3  (name it iBoot221pwn.img3)
4) From the official 2.1.1 ipsw, extract this (unpatched) file:
   iBSS.n72ap.RELEASE.dfu    (name it iBSS211.dfu)

Installing the jailbroken custom ipsw
5) Put your ipt2g into DFU mode using keypresses.  Don't have iTunes running!
6) Start rslite.  Send the official iBSS from 2.1.1:    !iBSS211.dfu
7) Start rslite again.  Send the redsn0w-lite patch:    #pwn211ibss.txt
Cool Send the patched iBSS from 2.2.1:                    !iBSS221pwn.dfu
9) Use iTunes to do a full restore using your custom 2.2.1 ipsw

Tethered boot
After the install, your ipt2g will not be bootable without assistance
from a tethered computer.  The method in this README.txt requires you
to go into DFU mode, but you should be able to find (or work out on
your own) other more convenient ways.
10) Repeat steps 5-8
11) Send the patched iBoot from 2.2.1:                  !iBoot221pwn.img3

Your homescreen should soon show up.  You can then start iTunes.

How To Jailbreak 2.2.1 Using redsn0w on a Mac

Credit: Thank you Bi0hAzArD for fixing the error 21 in iTunes by editing Unzip.txt

DISCLAIMER: I am not responsible for any damage you do to your iPod. It is virtually impossible to brick an iPod, though use redsn0w at your own risk. If you follow this guide properly, however, no damage should be done to your iPod.

Note: This guide assumes that you have libusb installed. If you need to install it, this post explains how: http://www.ipodtouchfans.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1217405&postcount=4 (Credit: RavenII).

First download redsn0w from the Dev Team: http://www.redsn0w.com/rslite101.zip .Unzip this and place the folder "rslite" onto your desktop (do not rename it).

Download PwnageTool 2.2.5 from the Dev Team: Official torrent - cd ~/Desktop/rslite[/code] and then press Enter. Then type
Code:
bash Copy.txt
followed by Enter. Leave the Terminal window open.

Open up PwnageTool.app, click OK when the blue window pops up and then click the "Expert Mode" button on the top of the window. Click the iPod touch in the middle of the window, followed by the arrow in the bottom right corner. Let it search for IPSW files on your computer. If it finds the 2.2.1 update file automatically, click that and then the arrow in the bottom right corner. If it doesn't find it automatically, double click the "Browse for IPSW" file and open the 221.ipsw file in the rslite folder on your Desktop. On the next screen, double click the button that says "Custom logos" and on the next screen uncheck the 2 check boxes at the top of the window, followed by clicking the blue arrow in the bottom right corner. Finally, double click the "Build" button and save the custom ipsw file as "221pwn.ipsw" in the rslite folder on the Desktop. It will ask for your password sometime during the build and supply it when it does. When it finishes, close the program.

In the previously opened Terminal window, type
Code:
bash Unzip.txt
followed by Enter. This may take a few minutes. Leave the Terminal open.

When that is done, plug your iPod into your computer and put it into DFU mode (instructions on how to do this are at the end of the guide). If iTunes is open, close it now and close it if it tries to automatically open in the following process. Only open it when the guide says.

In the terminal, type
Code:
./rslite
then Enter and then type
Code:
!iBSS211.dfu
followed by Enter. Wait a few seconds and then type
Code:
./rslite
again, then enter. Then tpye
Code:
#pwn211ibss.txt
and Enter. Next type
Code:
!iBSS221pwn.dfu
then Enter. Your iPod's screen should be white. Leave the terminal open.

Now open up iTunes and hold Option (the Alt key) while clicking the Restore button. This will allow you to choose the restore file. Restore using the custom ipsw file you created with PwnageTool earlier. When this is done, your iPod will shut down. To boot back up, you must use rslite. Again, close iTunes now and don't open it until the guide says.

In the terminal, type
Code:
./rslite
then Enter and then type
Code:
!iBSS211.dfu
followed by Enter. Wait a few seconds and then type
Code:
./rslite
again, then enter. Then tpye
Code:
#pwn211ibss.txt
and Enter. Next type
Code:
!iBSS221pwn.dfu
then Enter. Your iPod's screen should be white. Then type
Code:
./rslite
followed by Enter. Lastly, type
Code:
!iBoot221pwn.img3
and then Enter and your iPod should boot. Just to be safe, do not disconnect it from the computer until the slide to unlock screen comes up. At this point, you can close the terminal and open up iTunes to sync.

Congrats, you now have a jailbroken iPod touch 2G!

How To Get Into DFU Mode
1. Connect iPod to computer.
2. Hold Home and Sleep/Wake buttons for 10 seconds.
3. Release Sleep/Wake button and keep holding Home button for 7 seconds. Release it after 7 seconds.
4. You are in DFU mode.

How To Reboot The iPod
If you need to reboot the iPod from after it has been turned off:

Put the iPod into DFU mode. Open up a terminal and type
Code:
cd ~/Desktop/rslite
followed by Enter. Next type
Code:
./rslite
then Enter and then type
Code:
!iBSS211.dfu
followed by Enter. Wait a few seconds and then type
Code:
./rslite
again, then enter. Then tpye
Code:
#pwn211ibss.txt
and Enter. Next type
Code:
!iBSS221pwn.dfu
then Enter. Your iPod's screen should be white. Then type
Code:
./rslite
followed by Enter. Lastly, type
Code:
!iBoot221pwn.img3
and then Enter and your iPod should boot back up. You must do this every time you need to reboot.

Note: I created all of the scripts, in case you were wondering.
